The unvaccinated, whether symptomatic or not, will become incubators for the virus, allowing it yet another opportunity to mutate. Best case scenario, we have an annual covid shot, maybe rolled in with the flu shot. Worst case, the hospitals and ICUs fill up again, stretching the healthcare infrastructure to its breaking point.

This is true and sad. And true.

As of a couple of days ago, only 2.6% of the world has been fully vaccinated, and 6.4% have had at least one dose. If we've learned anything, we should certainly know by now that virulent viruses, anywhere in the world, affect all of us. If a mutant resistant strain develops elsewhere, because the population is unable to contain it, we'll all be back to square one. (though hopefully a little smarter). I hope the scientists are prepared. To actively turn down a vaccine, if it is not due to medical reasons, seems ignorant and a little selfish to me. We are all relying on a group effort on this to eradicate this viral bastard.

Right. Not to be gross, but you cannot legislate a no-peeing section in the swimming pool. Everybody needs to get the vaccine.

😆 Exactly! We all mix in with one another in many ways, even if we don't realize it!

If trends continue it seems that positivity, hospitalization and death rates will start lining up more clearly with red counties and states (purple areas will be more complicated). The connection between vaccine resistance and disease should become more apparent and harder to deny. I guessing that’s about two to three months away. Does that become an inflection point and positively increase vaccination rates? Maybe. If not, then what? Mandates? Require vaccine cards for services, admissions, etc? We know what the anti-vaxx, Johnny Pissed-offs will have to say. I wonder what they would say if they were told, “Get your shot in a week or we’re sending it to Nigeria”.

Probably nothing. I am just being a snot here. But the Johnny Pissed-Offs (love that new title) are digging in their heals and their preachers and their elected representatives aren't helping matters.

Makes me think of a parable, Russian I think.

God gives desperately poor family a milk cow to improve their life. The family’s neighbor rages at God over the gift of the cow. God asks the neighbor what He can do for him. The neighbor says, “Kill the cow”.

BTW, I can’t take credit for Johnny PO. It’s from Ed Sanders “The Iliad”. A relic from my shaggy adolescence, when I worshiped in the Church of Zappa. You can find it on YouTube (at your own risk).

Stealing it. That is all.
