Here’s Derrick, wearing his Helmet of Politeness while he commits insurrection.
Does that mean it’s OK?
Derrick Evans, a former West Virginia delegate who stormed the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, recently asked for leniency because he said he did so courteously.
From his most recent defense:
While the overall offense was serious, Defendant's personal role in that offense, i.e. his presence added to the interference of law enforcement during a civil disorder, was non-violent and, to an extent, minimal. That is to say, he didn't touch anyone and he didn't damage government property. Further, he discouraged others from engaging in such actions. He was courteous to law enforcement officers, even though he broke the law in entering a restricted area as part of the crowd.
So. Is there a situation where you could see going easy on one of these traitors? (I think by my wording of that last sentence, you know where I stand but I’m not trying to pick a fight, I promise.) Enter your comments below.
I’ve been shocked by the leniency so far in sentencing. It does not matter how polite you are when you’re breaking the law. Especially when you’re trying to overthrow the results of a legitimate election.
I believe this is entirely home-grown, and so if we start making exceptions to our American seditionists, then we are leaving the door open for more. No quarter should be asked, and no quarter should be given.
His mere presence in a restricted area makes him complicit in the worst of the crimes. A slap on the palms by a nun with a ruler is comparable to the sentences handed down thus far. How much more leniency does this traitor expect?
The majority of the sentences that have been handed down to the golfing grifters gullible goons have been disgustingly lame
Especially for the goofballs that have lengthy criminal records
One of the goofballs who is awaiting trial was also arrested for going to the Pennsylvania convention on center on November 5th 2020 with weapons ( a handgun and surprise surprise an ar15 along with hundreds of rounds of ammunition) to do harm to election officials
Recently it was revealed that he was at an underground meeting with the leaders of the proud boys and the oath keepers
Just the fact that he violated the terms of his release for his November 5th crime should have had him locked up awaiting trial
Surely the charges reflect what was done, and are absent for acts not committed. I mean, that doesn't work for the customary charging of people of color, where charges are loaded up to convey the impression that convicting for only some is moderate or merciful-- but these guys are almost all snow White.

I am not the first to say it, but the skin tone of the defendants absolutely work in their favor.
Doubtless still far too many older white male
Judges doing sentencing not helping.
NO quarter for the American Taliban!

I love that: "How much more leniency does this traitor expect?"

That he has been free all this time is a joke
And not in a funny way
That's a scary legacy he's leaving.
"Sure, I robbed the bank, but I said 'please' and 'thank you', so I should get leniency."
Right. That’s like “I stabbed him prettily.”

Amazing, isn’t it?
Never!
