Can't join Veterans For Peace and About Face in D.C. on Saturday,

June 14, to protest against Trump's military parade?

Not to worry. No Kings Day rallies are happening everywhere.

Find the rally nearest to you.

Bring your own messaging against US complicity in the Gaza genocide, the cuts to VA Healthcare while the Pentagon budget balloons, and the Gestapo attacks on immigrants and freedom of speech.

Here are a few more ideas:

Yes I have already signed us up for the No Kings Day June 14 rally at our Town Hall which is across the street from our friendly police department. I am looking forward to having my voice heard here safely. It will probably be in the rain again but everyone shows up in rain gear !

Yes, the rain is deterrent to people participating....ugh.

The rain may be a deterrent. But to quote Susan Campbell, “we won’t melt.”

And when we go home and we’ll dry out. But our voices will be left lingering in the air.

I hope people put on a raincoat, bringing an umbrella and show up.

Good advice - I will not be a protest but I will continue to spread kindness wherever I can..

I refuse to be intimidated. I plan to go to Hartford on Saturday with my sandwich board and Obama mask. Do I think that someone protesting in CA should take all of these precautions - YES. I am in CT. I believe the fear of a vehicle being driven through a crowd is real. Individual combat with Trumpers is a possibility, shunning them is the best thing to do, not engage them in arguments or confrontations. But I do not think that the National Guard is going to be tried out in CT, as the wealthy Republicans would find it distasteful. And, well, GOP just doesn't give a rats ass about CT. They think that CA is fair game..... yep, that is what I think.

I think you're right. I will be in East Lyme, yelling my head off.

Of course, especially for us* white not-so-young types, being held or arrested is probably not too likely (I hope). If you're like me, though, you rest easier if you're as prepared as possible, just in case. Three pieces of advice to help with that, if you will feel better about it:

*

* LOOK

*

* AWAY

*

* SPACE

*

*

*

Please remember that every day is STFU Friday. Advice here: https://www.instagram.com/reel/DJsGeZEP7w5/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link

If you usually carry a cell phone and do not want it to be confiscated and searched by law enforcement:

1. Perhaps leave it at home

2. If you use a biological sign-on like a thumbprint or your face your body can be manipulated to turn on your phone, though you cannot legally be obliged to give a password. However, neither of those will prevent your phone from being confiscated for further search.

3. Consider using a burner

It is also prudent to write the name and number of a lawyer you would call in case of trouble on your body: you can thus access it if your bags and so on are taken.

* There being no protest planned in Harrogate, the third poshest town in England, and I being quite arthritic and thus not willing to take the train to London or Edinburgh or the bus to (maybe?) Manchester, I won't be attending one. I am sad about this, however.

When I was traveling out of country I had concerns about my cell phone being accessed. So, I deleted my Facebook, GMail, and BlueSky apps. When I come home, I will put them back. Easy Peasy.

I applaud your thoroughness. In preparation for my entry into the US in April I had a border-savvy lawyer’s number on my arm and my phone turned hard— but I decided to leave the apps on it. Probabilities are quite different for protests, however.

That's a great idea.
