Someone posted this on Xwitter this past weekend, and I saw it and immediately thought no. Absolutely not. For all the gray areas I love, I believe on some issues, I am cheerfully a moral absolutist. In some circumstances, there is right, and there is wrong, and there are, in fact, some things beyond compromise.
Are you able to see gray? As we watch the long line of TFG’s co-conspirators make their cases, I do not see an adequate defense. So no compromise. None.
And if the illustration isn’t available to you, in between those two black boxes is, among other words, this quote:
“But my old-fashioned view is that nothing is beyond compromise.”
If compromise means a person should receive a lesser punishment for crimes committed because of their name, friends' names, past position, desired future position, race, ethnicity, and/or wealth, absolutely not! If compromising means letting someone off the hook who intentionally caused harm to others, absolutely not! I'll also add you can't compromise with a narcissistic sociopath.
The other day you had asked whether we are willing to bring people we disagree with back into the fold, so to speak, and I think I responded with this in mind. There are moral lines that people have crossed within this political era that they need to make amends for before I'll fully welcome them back into my life, and likely I won't ever see them the same way.
Life is too short to engage with hostile / hateful people. Better off gone, often enough. With respect to criminal prosecutions, they are hoping for compromise. They should answer for those crimes. Period.
I agree completely. I just cannot reconcile with the greed, lying, intentional ignorance, or extreme hate that has spewed from people I thought better of. As you say or imply, they must have second thoughts and admit their eeaknesses here, and, in some cases, yes--make amends. Unfortunately, that's what they think of me.

THERE you go.
Right on! Especially’you can’t compromise with a narcissistic sociopath.’

Amen. I'm not going to compromise with the bad-faith crowd.

Same as Tracy — I see no TXwitter post; only two large, solid black rectangles, with your two short paragraphs beneath.
I amended it for people for whom the words didn't appear.
Nice to know I'm not alone...BUT, I still see black rectangles even after the fix. Grrrr.
I’m in the group that see only solid black rectangles. I’m certain I am missing something really wort reading. :-)
I can't see gray regarding your post Susan. In fact, I can only see black squares. Am I missing a joke or is my internet wonked?
See above. I amended the post so you can understand my reference. I don't know why it isn't showing up for you.
Could it be because I am on my phone?
Nope…no gray areas…!
NONE!
Y'all come sit by me.
Some things are most certainly beyond compromise! Teaching the truth in history classes comes to mind immediately.
I can't see the tweet, just a black rectangle. I take it that someone took something back?
