We are witnessing death by a thousand cuts as a smart ass little whistle prick aka Stephen Miller, is directing his Proud Boy/ 3 Percenter brown shirts to assault Americans! Add Bondi to the mix with a syphilitic President and the enabling Congress and we have a recipe for disaster.

Don’t forget Noem. What a disappointment she is, not that I expected much.

Rich Colbert's avatar

Didn’t forget her, my I-Pad will not allow her name to appear.

Rich -- your description of Miller is golden. I bow to your use of language. Thank you.

“Whistle dick.”

Bet you a penny Bezos's response is to apologize for the reporter and suspend/fire her.

Having unsubscribed already I can't unsubscribe again.

Independent media I follow and try to support:

The Colorado Sun

Mother Jones

The Nation

truthout

Hammer & Hope

Rewire News

The Tennessee Holler

the shrinking scattering of undevoured local papers

News podcasts:

It Could Happen Here

Reuters Econ World (variable, overly "business"-oriented)

The Daily Beans

Talking Feds

Strict Scrutiny

The Down Ballot (politics, candidates, elections)

PBS, always better than mainstream media, is really stepping up now that it has no federal funding, and needs our support.

Yep. I unsubscribed a while ago and won’t go back.

And yours is a really good list.

They're pushing forward on all fronts as hard as they can as fast as they can and the illegality of their actions is a plus to them since it erodes the rule of law. Where possible they're being deliberately interpersonally confrontational. They're getting off on it and that's coming from Bondi and a relatively small cabal of sickos at the top. Miller, Vought, Lyons, Homan, Noem and others. Trump, typically, is a stooge.

There's no winning outcome for us in this only damage control. If we 'win' it stops and Democrats are left, again, to clean up Republican damage. So they'll make the media thing as personal as possible, I think, to try to maximize the intimidation effects. It's a disaster. I'm trying to manage my emotional investment because it's too much. And if we ever have the opportunity for the last time we need to shut this shit down.

This can be severely overwhelming but stay strong and know there are more of us than there are of them. They have the power right now, but that will change.

Bezos comments will be standard Amazon speak: Good call out; I’ll put a ticket in for it. And the employee favorite: this wouldn’t have happened if she’d done her stretches. FYI: if it’s not tax deductible he’s not doing it.

I shouldn’t laugh. But you’re probably right.

In our United States of America this threatening of another reporter by our government and weakening of our freedom of press again is unconscionable. In my lifetime I never thought I would see this. And I have been on this earth close to 80 years.

Get ready the Insurrection Act is about to be enacted. This on the heels of the leader of the Oath Keepers sitting in front row guest seats in the Duma!

Where is Bezos? How can he be silent when an investigative reporter on his staff had their computers, phones and watch taken by the feds. This is a total infringement on the first amendment, an attack on journalism. People should be outraged. The government is after her confidential sources -- trying to find who she's been talking to since the chief felon took office. Interesting to read that NBC, ABC, CNN, MsNow, and the NewsHour covered the issue, but CBS did not! Awful!

Bezos? Probably on his yacht or dining in DC with … only God knows who at the moment. Bu we can gueeesss :-(

I found this: The Washington Post did have good coverage of it and also called it "exceedingly rare".

From the Washington Post coverage:

“In an email to The Post’s newsroom, Executive Editor Matt Murray called the search an “extraordinary, aggressive action” that is “deeply concerning and raises profound questions and concern around the constitutional protections for our work.””

““The Washington Post has a long history of zealous support for robust press freedoms. The entire institution stands by those freedoms and our work. We have been in close touch with Hannah, with authorities and with legal counsel and will keep you updated as we learn more. In the meantime, the best thing all of us can do is to continue to vigorously exercise those freedoms as we do every day.””

However - there has been no comment on it directly from Wahington Post's owner, Jeff Bezos. We aren't surprised about that, are we?

Bezos doesn't care about the Post, his employees, press freedom, democracy etc. All he cares about is that he is a billionaire and regardless of what happens he'll continue to be a billionaire and live in a world where his money protects him from everything that the rest of us encounter daily -- high prices for food, will we have a job, can we afford health care, the rent, the mortgage, etc. ie. surviving in a world in which the current is running against us 24/7 365.

Bezos will find one day that his $$$ will somehow end up in rump the pedophile’s pockets. At that time, the rump will no longer know his name. And Bezos will be out on the street and confused because no one will any longer know his name.

I wil not share a sandwich with Bezos. He’s on his own.
