The Racketeering Influenced and Corrupt Organization Act statute was passed as a means to fight organized crime. Unions have also been a target of the law. Fani Willis, Fulton County district attorney, has applied RICO in cases involving musicians and teachers involved in a cheating scandal — and now, as of Monday’s indictment, a former president.
