Word went out that Trump’s vice president joined Bluesky (about the only social media platform I’m on these days) yesterday, and he immediately started peddling his nonsense with posts such as this:
He lasted 12 minutes before he was banned (Bluesky has a much better reputation for banning than does say, Truth Social or X), and once word got around, he was quick to become the single-most blocked account on Bluesky.
In this case, Vance’s account was banned out of fear that someone was impersonating the vice president. His account was quickly reinstated.
As of this writing, the number of people blocking Vance (including me) is heading past 100,000, according to ClearSky, which keeps track of such things. (By comparison, I’m blocked by 60 people, and bless them for their good taste.)
Bluesky has become a haven for x-Xwitter users (such as myself) and the conversations tend to be a little more grown-up, though of course that cannot last. There have been users of late who worry that that Bluesky has become an echo chamber for progressives the way Truth Social, Trump’s own social media platform, is for MAGAt. Those chiding Bluesky seem to be asking Bluesky users to include more Nazis. Thank you, but no. I will not dip my toe back into the swill.
I am a proud JD Vance Bluesky blocker. 😀
And yet communist thinkers get remarkably little platforming in the United States.
Curious.
