The Jan. 6th committee meets one last time
The committee of seven Democrats and two Republicans may be closing up shop, but it looks as if the august body is leaving us something to remember them by.
When the committee meets today, they will vote on their final report and announce criminal charge referrals. Reports are at least three charges being considered against the former president, including insurrection. Such charges are historic, unprecedented, and they are the best charges. Punishment can mean fines, imprisonment, and banishment from ever holding office again, like, ever.
There are multiple ways to watch the hearing live, starting at 1 p.m. EST.
The committee’s final report will be released on Wed. There is a sense of urgency here because the incoming Republican majority in the House is expected to disband the committee because of course they would.
In this season of Advent, which for some Christians is about quite preparation for recognizing the birth of Jesus, our world is seriously in peril. Your are right to call today "a historic Monday."
The main subject of today's hearing is continuing to foment violence with his dangerous rhetoric. We should all be worried that more violence may result. May God, in this season of Advent watch over us and bring peace which we badly need!
