At Pres. Joe Biden’s first address to a joint session of Congress last night, there was a brief moment of applause as House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and Vice President Kamala Harris took their places behind the podium, as have generations of House Speakers and Vice Presidents have done in the past.
But the image of those two women in those seats was a little bit awe-inspiring.
“Madame Vice President — no president has ever said those words from this podium…and it’s about time,” Pres. Biden said, opening his speech.
