What fries my ass is that those who are screaming about crime and all the homeless DON'T LIVE IN OUR CITIES! They watch TV or see stuff on streaming services and heavens! a couple of times a year they encounter a homeless person on the street of a city they might visit--but most of the time they avoid that and opt for Disney versions of reality. Those of us who live in cities (mostly Democrats, gee, what a coincidence) will be living under marshal law, not for OUR safety and well-being, but to make the millions who live in rural areas and the burbs feel better. There won't be any National Guard troops sent to the burbs or the rural areas you can be sure. I lived in Philadelphia in the 1970's when the flight to the suburbs of anyone who could afford it was decimating the City. Now, all those who fled the cities want to control what goes on in them. Funny they don't want to help pay for programs to help the homeless or reduce the effects of poverty, but police and military? Blank check. This is absolutely disgusting.

Not too many years ago here in the land of steady habits the state police were deployed to support the local police and enhance public safety. The difference here is the state worked on a collaborative basis with municipal officials for (wait for it) - the COMMON good! Of course homelessness was not addressed, addiction was not addressed, poverty was not addressed, but an attempt was made to slow the crime wave. Each of those conditions contribute significantly to crime. The police, NG, Marines et al cannot solve the root causes that are largely ignored. Elected officials have an obligation to SERVE and PROTECT! Now that fascism is in fashion there is NO intent to work collaboratively with state and local leaders, hence the gestapo tactics. It is only going to get worse as Project 2025 replaces the Constitution!
