At this point of Putin’s inhumane invasion of Ukraine, it is hard to know what to think about Ukraine’s future. I have watched heartbreaking television, read stories that made me cry (and I am not a crier), and been amazed at the fortitude of the Ukrainian people, as I’ve been stunned at the rest of the world’s inability to stop the despot Putin right now.
But I draw faith when I see videos like the one below, where Ukrainians stand, jeer and videotape an armed and jittery invader. This is the kind of guts the world needs. When it’s time to vote in November, this crowd will be my spirit animal:
