The next best thing to a no-show job

Ladies and gentlemen, the 118th Congress

Welcome to the most unproductive congress in decades. If things continue apace, this Congress will have been the most stagnant since the Great Depression and is it any wonder with the likes of, well…

Here’s a list of bills these two and their friends have passed since last January, including, so far this month, one “to amend the Permanent Electronic Duck Stamp Act of 2013 to allow States to issue electronic stamps under such Act, and for other purposes.” The law authorizes the Dept. of Interior to allow any state to issue — I’m not kidding — stamps with hunting or migratory themes.

Compare that to the 89th Congress (1965-66), considered the most productive of the modern age. With a healthy Democratic majority, that body passed legislation such as the Voting Rights Act, the Higher Education Act, and they created Medicare and Medicaid.

But we? Get stamps with ducks on them. Some people become disengaged but that’s not the answer, is it? The answer is to remove the human-sized paperweights and elect decent and caring candidates.
