We badly need a two-party system, Pres. Joe Biden said on Wednesday in response to questions after a press conference on the new Restaurant Revitalization Fund. If you’ve only been keeping up a little, the Republican Party is in the middle of a free-fall/ meltdown/toad-strangling/shit show.
The political party needs a new brand, one free of the Ted Cruzes, the Josh Hawleys, the Marjorie Taylor Greenes and the Elise Stefaniks currently gnawing on the bloated corpse down in Florida, a corpse who lost an election by 7 million votes.
(That list is by no means exhausting.)
So: Pretend you’re a political architect. Can you boil the new, much-needed Republican message to a few lines? What needs to be jettisoned, other than that rotted corpse? (I’m assuming there are scant few Republicans visiting this Substack, but please offer your comments in the spirit of gemütlichkeit.)
Maybe "We reward prosperity hub hub."
A truly 'conservative' move by the GOP would be to adopt the party platform of 1956. https://www.politifact.com/factchecks/2014/oct/28/facebook-posts/viral-meme-says-1956-republican-platform-was-prett/
