First, on Thursday, an idiot son of an idiot member (I’m guessing here) of the state’s GOP tweeted this:
Let’s unpack this, a bit. Here, the Republicans of Connecticut retweeted something from a known anti-gay group, Libs of TikTok, and the GOP was suitably called on for that by more than one observer.
Most Twitter users would have taken the tweet down, and maybe even apologized. But not @CTGOP. They double-downed. Multiple times.
Then, Anika Singh Lemar weighed in with this cheeky tweet:
Lemar is a Yale Law School professor and she is married to state Rep. Roland Lemar. Read the GOP’s next comment below:
So let’s unpack this: The CT GOP says Rep. Lemar tried to “force tolls on CT,” and that he and his wife are, by buying the book, “Julián Is a Mermaid,” “force feeding transgenderism to their 5 year old.” And then they called Connecticut Democrats “unstable,” and as a final statement, they tagged Yale, Prof. Lemar’s employer, which will, I assume, give a rat’s ass about her tweets.
What is “transgenderism?” And it’s “on,” not “to.” But I digress.
The behavior throughout the day by this Twitter account included, but was not limited to, calling a respected op-ed writer a hack, questioning the reportorial skills of another, award-winning reporter, and reminding critics that Prof. Lemar started it, by mentioning her 5-year old. This political party historically does not do well in Connecticut, and with outreach like this, this politically party will enjoy a continued lack of success in the Nutmeg State.
But Prof. Lemar has an excellent point. If “Julian the Mermaid” makes @CTGOP uncomfortable, it might be a really good book. You can read more about it here.
And while this "noise" is attracting attention another town in Connecticut was littered with white supremacist flyers like our city was a few months back (BTW NOTHING has ever been done about that "paper assault" upon us)......there is no longer a 'segment' of the gQp associated with book banning, fighting masks and vaccines and even anti-semitism...they are ALL in on it! In closing I FULLY support tolls (over TROLLS) with exemptions for CT drivers. Each surrounding state has them so let's just join in on the revenue (once done the diesel excise can be eliminated).
The CT GOP, in many ways, reminds me of a group spitting into the wind, getting it back in their faces, and blaming the wind for it.
Their positions and philosophies make zero sense. As Jim Brasile said, they exhaust me.
