Award-winning fashion designer Willy Chavarria started his Paris Fashion Week show with 35 young men dressed in white heads shaved, their hands tied behind their back and kneeling as does the illegally kidnapped people in that horrible El Salvador prison where the diapered felon who rapes (illegally) sends them.
The show was created in conjunction with the ACLU.
From Chavarria’s press release:
As the designer has said, if he can’t get political on the runway, he’s not interested in fashion.
It’s a great reminder to the rest of us. Everywhere. We must be resisting everywhere.
This is fabulous. I feel sorry for people who think what we wear doesn't matter. I don't think I have ever seen a designer demonstrate the power of fashion so compellingly. It ain't just about the Met Gala. I hope Chavarria's insightfulness and boldness is contagious.
Thanks for giving this form of protest wider coverage.
