The Affordable Care Act just survived its third major challenge in the Supreme Court by a 7-2 vote, with Justices Alito and Gorsuch dissenting. The man responsible for the law took to Twitter and said:
Basically, the court ruled that the plaintiffs did not have standing to bring the suit because they “have not shown a past or future injury fairly traceable to defendants’ conduct enforcing the specific statutory provision they attack as unconstitutional,” according to the opinion.
Pres. Joe Biden says he intends to expand the program. His response to the court’s decision on Twitter:
(Pres. Biden, then vice president, told Pres. Obama at the 2010 signing of the law that Obamacare was a “big fucking deal.”)
Obamacare has extended insurance to millions of Americans, and made sure people with pre-existing conditions are covered. The law also made sure certain essential health benefits — such as important preventive care for women — are covered.
You’d think we’d be cheering, but no. One of the challengers, Ken Paxton, the scandal-laden Republican attorney general of Texas, has vowed to keep fighting against affordable health care. He wrote on Twitter that the law:
“was unconstitutional when it was enacted and it is still unconstitutional.”
Sadly, neither Paxton nor any of his Republican friends has suggested an alternative.
They're going to unveil the Republican healthcare plan Any Day Now. Oh, wait, they already did. Democratic Rep. Alan Grayson explained it in 2009. "Don't get sick. If you do get sick, die quickly." https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bSRo51SbQQs
BFD! OMG! LOL!
Gotta love it! Cue the faux outrage from the insurrection supporters.
