Back around 2008, 2009, middle America was embracing the shiny, happy Duggar family on TLC.
At the time, I was writing a blog that was attached to my memoir, “Dating Jesus: Fundamentalism, Feminism, and the American Girl,” and I devoted more than a few posts to the danger of admiring the Duggar parents, who were running an ultra-conservative Christian family where women are receptacles and men are one step away from God.
