On Wednesday, a Connecticut jury said conspiracy theorist/snake oil salesman Alex Jones must pay the grieving families of the victims of the 2012 Sandy Hook school massacre at least $965 million. He must also pay an FBI agent who was at the scene.

Jones has already been ordered to pay $49 million to other families he hounded, and that brings the bill for his lies to more than $1 billion.

Jones spent years using his bully pulpit on every platform imaginable to spread the lie that the school shooting, whose 26 victims included 20 children, was staged as a smokescreen to allow the government to restrict gun ownership. His fans turned on the families as only weasels on steroids can do.

But the award is not enough. It’s not nearly enough.
