Probably best to wait for warmer weather before you do the nightgown thing. We have not yet experienced Iran’s response to Trump’s ill conceived attack, but almost assuredly it will be coming. As a wise Greek once told me, “Don’t poke the donkey if you don’t want to smell the farts.” Sadly, I doubt that the farts will fall directly on the idiot that initiated the poking, but it will stink. I have noticed that anybody with a trace of intelligence is distancing themselves from the decision. Trump’s reign will not end well, but Chicago rebuilt after the fire. We can do this, but we have a lot of work to do to convince our friends that we can be a reliable ally.

His idiocy has put us all at risk. Does he care? Not in the least.

I just hope the chief felon ends the madness (his war) soon with no more lives lost. We will rebuild, we will rebuild Ukraine (I hope). But for now -- my efforts continue to be the mid-terms and we must win big! I just paid $5.14 a-gallon for gas. Swords Up!

I lost a cousin to Agent Orange after he served in Viet Nam right out of high school in the 60s. He was such a talented artist, but suffered for years from the side effects. I still have a few of his sketches from his last years living in Florida. I remember the protests vividly, and seeing Country Joe MacDonald at Woodstock and chanting the 'fish cheer'. The Kent State massacre happened on my 19th birthday in May of 1970. A day that will definitely go down in infamy for me. I just hate wars - they're so costly (in so many ways!) and all that money could go towards doing good things in the world.

Currently, a dear friend has a son stationed in Kuwait with the National Guard. I'm not a praying person, but sure do think about him every single day. Let's hope this entire fiasco ends soon.

I am so sorry for your loss of your cousin and will hold that young man in Kuwait in my heart.

My husband is a huge WWII buff so consequently, I’ve watched my fair share of war movies and real life documentaries.

And yet, through all of the rubble that remained, beautiful cities and towns were rebuilt. I’m sure that when the ‘excursion’ in Iran and the war in Ukraine end, more new cities will spring up through the rubble.

This is my hope. That the lives lost won’t be in vain, that the people who started the wars will go straight to hell where they belong and our allies will once again believe in our country.

Big ask but that’s my hope, too.

When Hegseth was speaking this a.m. this is what I saw. Copy and paste in your browser to see the moron in action on Fox and then think about the fact that he's a lying piece of crap sending our military to die for nothing and pretending that he's a big brave badass when in reality he's a dry drunk twit who was thrown out of the National Guard because he stole money from veterans' groups, is a two time loser at marriage, paid off a woman he sexually assaulted and throws around the name of Jesus Christ to cover for the fact that he has no soul in addition to no brains.

It's difficult to have hope when this thing is in charge of our military and a dumb ox like Markwayne Multiple Names will be taking over ICE and is already whining that FEMA -- the only agency set up by the government to help citizens during a national disaster is "bloated" while thugs wearing masks and carrying weapons are terrorizing citizens and in some instances killing them and the GOP is whining for more money to support their criminal actions.

I give you credit for having hope but my barrel of hope is running dry.

I choose hope as well. I believe that love wins and that good (eventually) conquers evil. As Desmond Tutu once said, "Hope is being able to see that there is light despite all of the darkness."

Maybe we keep bringing light into the darkness so that others who are lost may see a way to a brighter future - however long it takes. Most regular people aren't happy living in darkness for long, even if conned into thinking it's a good thing. Eventually, they feel the weight of their dark reality.

Bonus points for quoting Desmond Tutu.

Thanks. This was cheering and heartening today. When I needed it.

Boy, the destruction and the waste. :(

I hope that the world’s societies have the sanity to see investment in re-creation as the sane humane thrifty path. We’ve become so addicted to the slide banal world of merely financial accounting. :(

Hope is sometimes all I have but hope is comforting to me 👍

If I thought it would help anything, I'd join you in my nightie. This shows me how frustrated and powerless we feel. We went to hear Rick Steves tonight, and his talk was super powerful, and moving, and political, and inspiring. He had just been to Iran and he had to stop a few times because he was showing pictures of young women who might have been killed like the 170 schoolgirls murdered in the first days of the war. Read his book, "Travel as a Political Act."

What a wonderful testimony. I admire him a great deal.

I do not believe it to be hopelessness. The Toddler-In-Chief and his minions have been doing "the big stall" on the war, the SAVE Act, and other issues.

It is frustrating for Democrats to get answers because no one is giving them answers.

Susan - please, please either get a videographer or give enough advanced warning that I can catch a flight and watch if you (walk into the middle of the street in my nightie and stand there singing at the top of my lungs. You may yet find me there.") Till then, thanks for the reminder that there are more of us than them. Keep fighting. #NoKings

Me, neither, and if it takes a bunch of grannies dressed in nighties standing in the middle of roads and singing anthems and hymns, I am up for that.
