I saw the above quote on social media yesterday and it made me think. We are all historians, in our own way, and we should be recording e-ver-y-thing precisely for the reason Pres. Eisenhower suggested above.
There will come a time — in fact, it’s already here — where MAGAts will begin to slant, equivocate and lie about how things actually were/are. They are led by the chief fabricator and we expect nothing else. So it’s up to the rest of us to tell the truth and tell the truth every damn time. Just as the answer to hunger is food, the answer to lies is the truth.
Swords up. Start a journal, if you haven’t already.
Also, purchase books. Honest history books, anthropology books, art books, the stories of brown and black people and women of all hues making a difference, books about other traditions and different ways of being in the world. The days of the Hedge Schools are returning. We will all be teachers there along the hedgerows and byways. Courage.
I was talking to my brother. Nice guy, doesn't really like Trump, but he's into the whole Christo fascist thing so he voted for him. When I started to ask him about what he thinks about ______, he had no idea what I was talking about. Deportations were just criminals and ICE wasn't doing anything wrong, tariffs weren't bad for us, what about the Oval office and the Rose Garden?, what about the Big Bad Bill giving billions to billionaires?, what about shutting up journalists with lawsuits? He honestly had no idea that any of these things was going on. He is blissfully unaware so it makes it easy for him to continue to support the Regime. They don't watch so they don't have to see.
