Follow along on the live reading of the ugly-ass bill
You can be smarter than 51 U.S. Senators, who couldn't possibly have read this thing and advanced it
Fifty-one U.S. Senators voted to advance the diapered felon who rape’s dystopian spending bill that will, well, here’s a reminder. It isn’t good, and that’s in keeping with the bulk of Trump legislation that squashes the middle class and decimates the economically vulnerable.
Yet those 51 senators move in lock-step with the Fondling Father, because they do not believe in restitution or an afterlife, I suppose.
Democrats require that the 940-page bill be read aloud, to make the point that certain Republicans who voted in favor had not — as happened in the U.S. House — actually read this critical legislation.
Weirdly, The Hill called the two Republicans (there were supposed to be more) who voted against advancement “defectors” to their parties. I have no love for either of the senators, but history will call them something far more positive. From The Hill:
Two Republicans voted against advancing the package: Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.), who opposes a provision to raise the debt limit by $5 trillion and Sen. Thom Tillis (R-N.C.), who says the legislation would cost his state $38.9 trillion in federal Medicaid funding.
Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.) changed his “no” vote to “aye,” and holdout Sens. Mike Lee (R-Utah), Rick Scott (R-Fla.) and Cynthia Lummis (R-Wyo.) also voted yes to advance the bill.
CBS called the act of the Republicans who changed their voted as folding. as in they “folded and voted yes.” I think history will agree with that characterization.
Interestingly, while listening to the reading, it strikes me that in an effort to cross all the t’s, these bills baffle you with bullshit. Or maybe bills are so dense precisely to baffle you. But I’m going to listen to at least some of it, because then I have proven that I care more about the future than the people who voted to move forward on this.
And if you have time, Sens. Johnson (he think Medicaid is fraudulent); Scott (who actually oversaw Medicare fraud); Lee (he makes jokes about political assassinations); Lummis (not roundly loved by her colleagues); and Murkowski, and Collins (they never fail to disappoint) should hear from you. Actually, reach out to everyone. People who have read and rejected this should know you appreciate their vote, as well.
Onward. And swords up.
Lee might joke about assassinations, but he's going to go down and can kiss reelection goodbye if he votes for this bill. Trump is not going to be around to assure victory for him in 2028. This public land sale that Lee tried to shove through, showed how many people cannot stand him, and that is music to my ears! I will reach out to both of my Senators once again, but if they vote for this bill, their political careers are essentially over!
This bill is so damaging to the poor and the middle class. The cuts to Medicaid will knock millions off the rolls. And, hidden is the cut to the subsidy for Obamacare. The GOP isn’t discussing that right now. Wake up America. The Dems will have a lot of fire power— hope they use it to their advantage. Swords up!
