Do you believe me? Would you believe me if I posted it repeatedly on Twitter?
I almost think I could give the lie some lift if I put a little effort into it. For guidance on this, all I’d have to do is mimic some of the politicos (Ted Cruz) on Twitter, who keep slinging nonsense with absolutely no proof.
And yet what they post gains traction.
In fairness, America’s Least Liked Senator And That’s Saying Something® is not alone in this and it’s maddening to watch.
The addition of Twitter #hashtags helps move the sludge along. There is no #BidenBorderCrisis, but give Cruz his due: This is an effective means of propaganda in a fact-free media environment such as ours. (Do a web search on “Biden Border Crisis,” and the sources that include that phrase — with or without the hashtag — are strictly Republican sources such as The Heritage Foundation and assorted Republican congresspeople).
It’s the lamest form of gossip to state something outrageous and then keep beating the drum for it. It’s the Big Lie Theory, writ large. The sad fact is this wouldn’t work if the people for whom the messages are intended did their homework, and applied a little bit of critical thinking to their media diet. But ah, me. Will that ever be the case?
They're doing the same thing to Lamont here in CT re the state's finances, despite the cold hard facts to the contrary. I expect soon we'll be hearing about CT elementary schools teaching pole dancing and Critical Race Theory.
I wish there could be an honest, political discussion of this issue between the Republicans & Democrats so that solutions could be determined. Republicans continually avoid working on humanitarian solutions and instead weaponize the issue against the Democrats. I really dispise the way they use vulerable people. They are not even close to behaving like Christians, despite being the loudest at claiming they are!
