Elect a clown, expect a circus
Jim Jordan is perhaps the worst candidate for speaker in modern times
The reasons to not-vote for Jim Jordan as a member of the U.S. House of Representatives, much less Speaker of same, are many. They include (but are not limited to):
Here’s more on Rep. Jordan’s role in the Jan 6th insurrection — both pre- and post-. Is he, in fact, an insurrectionist? I’m going to go with yes. I’m OK if you think he’s merely insurrectionist-adjacent, so long as the I-word haunts him for the rest of his days.
Here’s a bit more on Rep. Jordan’s “remarkably thin record of legislation,” from The Washington Post.
Here’s the tattered record Rep. Jordan left at Ohio State University, where he is accused of looking the other way while college wrestlers were being sexually abused.
Even the conservative National Review is holding its nose, as are some of his colleagues, former and otherwise.
This is what happens when you let the yapping terriers run an organization. I watched some of the process yesterday, with Rep. Elise Stefanik — someone you could formerly take seriously — did what she’s prone to do, and then the Democrats nominated Rep. Hakeem Jeffries, who in the first round of voting earned 212, to Jordan’s 200. From the New York Times:
Another vote should occur around 11 a.m. today. You can bet there’s been some horse-trading in the interim. Go, Rep. Jeffries!
Former Speaker Boehner called him a "legislative terrorist." Full stop!
I don't understand why another, more moderate, republican isn't stepping forward. Wouldn't democrats help elect him/her? Any thoughts on that?
