Kent State’s campus chapter of Turning Point USA is hosting Kyle Rittenhouse oncampus in mid-April.
Yes, Boomers. Kent State. And yes, everyone else. Kyle Rittenhouse.
Rittenhouse is making a tour of college campuses, and not always to adoring crowds. You can watch a video of one recent appearance at University of Memphis here. He was, essentially, shamed off the stage.
Go, Tigers!
One local independent student media outlet calls his visit a “desecration” to the memory of the people who died May 4, 1970. You can read more on that here. As writer Leah Shepard writes in the linked piece:
In August 2020, a 17-year-old Kyle Rittenhouse crossed state lines from his home in Antioch, Illinois, to Kenosha, Wisconsin, illegally armed with a loaded AR-15–style rifle. He, along with other counter-protestors, claim to have gone with the goal of protecting businesses. By the end of the night, two unarmed men would be shot dead, and a paramedic would be wounded.
The parallels to what happened on that August night and the fateful events that happened on our own campus are uncanny.
If provocation is what you seek, TPUSA, you have it. If you’re intending for people to sit quietly listening to racist horseshit from someone whom the courts treated entirely too gently, you are dumb as a box of hair. TPUSA’s founder and executive director Charlie Kirk would have benefited from attending Webb City High School, where he would have been stuffed into a locker and left there.
Ol’ Charlie’s trying to be in the big leagues, and he’s getting his ass handing to him. Good.
I do admire the students who went to his talk just so they could walk out.
Ohio where leaded water has given us Gym Jordan, Vance and a host of other srewballs! Neil Young's "Ohio" should be blared from EVERY speaker at Kent State!
