No one should have been surprised at last week’s marathon messy election for House Speaker, where it took a record 15 rounds to hand the gavel to Rep. Kevin McCarthy.
This is what the Republicans have created by not only enfolding but elevating in their ranks the radicals of the right, toddlers who’d disrupt the party simply because they can. This is what the Republicans should have expected when they elected as their party leader the least qualified man in the history of American presidencies. They have followed him down the drain and now they’re where they’ve been heading for years, since Newt “Contract On America” Gingrich.
(During the 14th round of voting, that bloated clown — Trump, not Gingrich — called in to share his vast political wisdom need to be paid attention to. At least one representative waved the call away, like the stink bomb that it was.)
So here we are, with a party that promises revenge for imagined grievances, led by a spineless wonder who will do everything he can to hang onto that gavel. At one point, Rep. McCarthy told a phalanx of reporters that the drawn-out, humiliating process was actually a good thing, that now the Republicans have passed through the fire, and they “learned how to govern.” That could be true, if “learned how to govern” means capitulation, appeasement, and dedicated fluffing of the members of the extreme right. So here we go with more Benghazi-esque hearings, and general wastes of time and space when we really don’t have the time or space to waste. We will, as Margo Channing suggested, fasten our seatbelts. But we also will, as Hillary Clinton did, brush this crap off and stay strong.

NOT unexpected from the party that supports insurrections over democracy! Expect sickening moves by Speaker McTrump that will shake our foundations of government!

It’s funny , to me at least , that the goofballs that I know seem embarrassed about the people that they are voting until the climb into their goofball echo chamber
